The "Easy Fix" Framework
Many accessibility barriers in Canvas can be resolved quickly using ODL’s "Easy Fix" strategies. These focus on the most common issues identified by the Ally accessibility checker.
1. Alternative Text
Images without descriptions are invisible to screen readers. ODL provides specific workflows for adding alt text to Canvas pages and files to ensure all students receive the same information.
Learn to Fix Images2. Contrast & Color
Low-contrast text is a major barrier for users with visual impairments. Learn how to use the Canvas Accessibility Checker to instantly identify and correct color ratio failures.
Learn to Fix Contrast3. Headings & Structure
Documents and pages must use "Styles" (H1-H4) rather than bold text. ODL guides show you how to structure a syllabus so it is programmatically navigable.
